Introducing the new XP and Badge system at Da Fast Lane!
We are excited to announce a major update to our community platform that rewards active members for their contributions. Whether you are adding abandonware sites to our archive, posting news articles, or sharing screenshots, you can now earn Experience Points (XP) and unlock exclusive badges that showcase your dedication to the scene.
How XP Works
Every action you take on Da Fast Lane earns you Experience Points. These points contribute to your overall level, which ranges from 1 to 20. Here is what earns you XP:
Site Archive Contributions
- Adding a new site: 100 XP
- Editing an existing site: 25 XP
- Each site can be edited multiple times, and you earn XP for each edit
News & Content
- Posting a news article: 50 XP
- Posting a comment: 5 XP
- Uploading a screenshot: 10 XP
Games Database
- Adding a game to the database: 75 XP
Level System
As you accumulate XP, you progress through 20 levels. Here is the XP threshold for each level:
Level 1: 0 XP
Level 2: 100 XP
Level 3: 500 XP
Level 4: 1,250 XP
Level 5: 2,000 XP
Level 6: 3,000 XP
Level 7: 7,500 XP
Level 8: 10,000 XP
Level 9: 14,000 XP
Level 10: 19,000 XP
Level 11: 26,000 XP
Level 12: 35,000 XP
Level 13: 50,000 XP
Level 14: 80,000 XP
Level 15: 125,000 XP
Level 16: 180,000 XP
Level 17: 300,000 XP
Level 18: 500,000 XP
Level 19: 900,000 XP
Level 20: 1,500,000 XP (Maximum Level)
As you level up, your profile avatar also changes to reflect your growth and status in the community.
Badge System
Badges are special achievements that recognize your contributions across different areas of the site. There are 17 unique badges to unlock:
Level Badges
- Newcomer: Reach Level 5
- Regular Member: Reach Level 10
- Veteran: Reach Level 15
- Legend: Reach Level 20
Archive Contribution Badges
- First Steps: Add your first site
- Site Contributor: Add 10 sites
- Archive Builder: Add 50 sites
- Master Archivist: Add 100+ sites
Community Engagement Badges
- Commentator: Post 25 comments
- Discussion Leader: Post 100 comments
- Community Voice: Post 500+ comments
Content Creator Badges
- News Reporter: Post 5 news articles
- Journalist: Post 25 news articles
- Editor: Make 10 site edits
- Screenshot Hunter: Upload 25 screenshots
Games Database Badges
- Game Cataloger: Add 10 games
- Database Curator: Add 50 games
- Game Archivist: Add 100+ games
Special Achievement Badges
- Most Active: Maintain high activity across multiple areas
- Lifetime Achievement: Exceptional long-term contribution
Checking Your Progress
Visit your member profile to see your current level, XP progress bar, and all the badges you have earned. The progress bar shows how much XP you need to reach the next level.
