Anti-TUOL was formed as a backlash against what was seen at the time by many as 'elitist' policies by the TUOL. Arguably this was not the case, and in retrospect many of the webmasters (who were much younger and inexperienced at the time) regret much of what was said and done. Nevertheless, it is a part of scene history and should be documented accurately.
Anti-TUOL was formed by The Saint, with support from his real life cousin Diskboy3K and warmonger, later NeoPickaze joined after various arguments with TUOL.
Anti-TUOL was seen by many as a laughable attempt at harvesting some 'inverse publicity' but still managed to gain 17 members within a few days. TUOL didn't acknowledge the site in public and avoided confrontation or argument, however - they did post a statement online showing a chat log between a member of Anti-TUOL and Mr. Creosote at one point, this was removed sometime in 2004.
Anti-TUOL only lasted a couple of months, it was redesigned three times, the first design was horrible, the second design was an improvement and was based upon the TUOL design at the time. The third design was stunning, it featured a flash intro and very impressive graphics, however, the ring closed when NeoPickaze and The Saint wanted to break their affiliation and go in the direction of a clean ring (They went on to start EchoRing). |
